Day 11: Mosiah 12-21

The reading assignment for Day 11 is the first one I have not completed. I am so sad. However, I will tell you that the process of participating in this challenge has brought such an added level of awareness into my life, and it makes me want to continue beyond 30 days. Reading the Book of Mormon every day is a personal witness of prophesy fulfilled. Remember this quote:

“There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path. The scriptures are called ‘the words of life’ (D&C 84:85), and nowhere is that more true than it is of the Book of Mormon. When you begin to hunger and thirst after those words, you will find life in greater and greater abundance” (Ezra Taft Benson in Conference Report, Oct. 1986, 6; or Ensign, Nov. 1986, 7).

This has been fulfilled in my life and I am so grateful! Let me tell you what I mean...

Part of the reason I have fallen behind with my reading and my posting on this blog, is because Jason and I have decided to move. We aren't going far--just about 12 miles down the road a bit-- but we are leaving our little home, our friends and ward we love, and trying something new. I know I would not have been able to make this decision if it weren't for the time I have spent reading my scriptures and listening to the Spirit. I went to the temple earlier in the week to seek for counsel, and not only did the Spirit help me to know the answer, but he guided my prayers and thoughts so that I would know what to ask. This was such a contrast from other times when I have wanted to make this decision but have been to afraid to ask or act, should I get an answer. But not this time. I know our decision has been guided. It is still hard in many ways, but hard is easy when you feel the Lord's prompting.

Now--on to reading and catching up! Actually, I have started listening to the audio recording from LDS.org--it's not quite the same as sitting down with the pages in hand and the pencil ready, but I am still enjoying the experience!

It's so hard to make decisions that huge! You can be sure the Lord directed you. This will be good for you guys, and good for your kids' education. We'll miss you so much!

Moving is something we've wrestled with for some time now. It's actually one of the reasons why I wanted to do this challenge. I wanted the extra time with my scriptures to help put me in the kind of place that I need to be in order to feel the Lord's guidance and direction. Right now I'm totally in the "afraid to ask or act" stage and that doesn't do any good. The decision to move or not is just so hard!

Thanks again for organizing this challenge. It has felt wonderful to spent good quality time with my scriptures each day. I've always read each night but doing a challenge like this forces me to really delve in and feast upon the word. As Nephi would say, It feels delicious to my soul. :)
